Some people like the look of the glass panels but there are a few reasons why I tend to replace those glass pieces with solid panels. For starters, I do not like the idea of strangers being able to peer into my garage or basement to see what goodies I have that they would like to steal. It is much better in my opinion if the thieves cannot see into the house at all. Another thing is that the glass pieces can be easily broken and someone very tiny could easily slide right through.

If you are shopping for a new garage door, finding a good selection of doors that are nothing more than a solid piece is easy enough. If you want to replace the glass of an already existing garage door, you can do that too but it is going to cost you a little. The security and peace of mind is worth it in my opinion.

Make sure that you are hiring a solid contracting company to work on your door if you are not able to do it yourself. This is to make sure that the work is done properly. The last thing you want is to find yourself out some money and left with a garage door that looks like it was attacked rather than fixed. Get references if you can because you just can never tell about some of the various companies out there now. When I hire contractors, I try to ask my friends and neighbors if they can recommend anyone based on personal experience and that always seems to work out well.
